It’s a really warm day and like everyone else you open your windows but whatever you do make sure you close them before you go out. You also run the risk of your alarm going off because of a small wind moved some curtains and set off a motion sensor in one of your rooms. A thief can be in and out with your valuables in a matter of minutes so don’ let them
Garden furniture and tools cost a lot of money and thieves know this as well. Make sure you keep it out of sight from passers by otherwise you might as well put a big sign on it saying ‘I’m expensive come and steal me and don’t forget to checkout the valuables inside’ Try and give the thieves the impression there is nothing worth stealing and that if they do you have the security systems in place to prevent and catch them.
For simplicity and as a cheap solution a door entry system offers a quick way to protect your home. There are two types of door alarm, one is attached to the door with a small sensor at each side. Every time the door is opened the alarm goes off so you know someone has come in. The other option is a small battery operated motion sensor alarm, which can be placed above or aimed at the door.
This motion sensor can be places in a hallway, at patio doors or even slightly away from the door so that the children can come and go into the kitchen for drinks but if anyone went into another part of the house the alarm would go off.
Buy buying one or more of these simple mini alarms with motion sensors you can quickly set them up and improve the safety of your home. Most can be set to chime so you know someone has gone past or you can set this to continuous alarm so you know someone is somewhere you don’t want them to be including the children.
An additional effective use for these mini sensors is when you are on holidays so you know that there are no unexpected visitors in your room whilst you are sleeping. Awaking to a trespasser hovering over you is the last thing that anyone wants. The majority of crime is performed by thieves who will quite happily steal from you at any available opportunity. If you do not provide them with the chance to make you a victim they will move on to someone who will. Keep in mind that crime prevention should be your first consideration, so call your local police station for crime prevention advice.
